ENERKOM Podlipansko is a non-profit energy community in Central Bohemia, Czech Republic. We help municipalities, citizens and small local businesses produce, manage and share energy locally.
Who we are
We were established in 2023 as an independent registered association, and we are governed by our own members through a general assembly and elected bodies. The initiative to create us came from LAG Podlipansko, a local action group that has supported regional cooperation and community development in this area for two decades. That relationship gave us something a new organisation cannot build quickly — trust that already exists between municipalities, schools, businesses and citizens. The energy work itself is ours, and it began in 2023.
What is running today
Energy sharing between our members has been in operation since August 2025, under the Czech framework that made sharing possible from August 2024. As of September 2026 we have 89 members — 19 municipalities and towns, 17 public institutions, 16 companies, 41 individuals and 2 non-profit organisations — with 230 metering points and 27 generation units: 26 rooftop solar installations with a combined capacity of 913 kWp, and one 330 kW biogas plant.
Alongside sharing, we manage energy data for public buildings in member municipalities, and we help prepare renovation and renewable energy projects, including access to funding.
Working with Europe
Since September 2026 we have been a partner in the LIFE project — together with organisations from Italy, Spain, France, Austria, Portugal and Belgium. Podlipansko is one of four pilot regions. The project describes us as the seed-stage partner, the youngest of the four, and that is accurate. Our task is to show that the model works in a region where the structure is still being built, and to make it transferable to other rural areas.
What is not finished
Connecting a metering point to energy sharing takes months. It depends on distributors, on meter replacements and on paperwork, and a significant part of our metering points is still on that path. We think it is more useful to say so than to present a finished picture.
How we work
Gradually — first capacity, then confidence, then infrastructure. We are a young organisation and we say so. We would rather show what actually works, including what did not.
