Antonia Proka works for REScoop.eu, focusing on the European Citizen Energy Academy (EUCENA), funded by the European Climate Initiative, which aims to support the development of energy communities in the Balkan region. In addition, Antonia has been involved in the development of the Clean energy for EU islands secretariat, an initiative of the European Commission to decarbonize the EU islands with the participation of the island communities, and she is currently responsible for the organization of the Energy Academies. The Energy Academies of the Secretariat aim to empower island communities to advance their islands’ energy transition.

Antonia holds a PhD from the Erasmus University Rotterdam on the topic of the (self-)organisation of renewable energy initiatives and their impact on the energy transition. Furthermore, Antonia facilitates the Gender Power working group of REScoop.eu, that aims to map the needs and challenges that energy cooperatives face, and to provide the space for reflection and exchange about good practices, as well as tools and instruments that energy communities can apply to diversify their boards, member base, and reflect the principle of gender justice in their overall operation.
