Balbriggan Sustainable Energy Community 2030

Our Vision is to support a just transition to a low-carbon society in Balbriggan, with a view to creating a self-sufficient community powered by renewable energy.

We work together to ensure a whole of society, inclusive approach by promoting the SEC widely and encouraging participation from all residents, businesses, clubs, volunteer groups and community representatives. We actively engage with the SEC Network and SEAI to provide feedback, share knowledge and support the SEC national mission. 

We commit to:

• Building awareness of supports available for building energy efficiency and renewable energy through knowledge sharing and learning
• Delivering community-owned energy and reinvesting benefits into the community 
• Advocating for shallow and deep retrofits to improve the energy efficiency of homes and local organisations
• Supporting actions to address energy poverty in the community
• Encouraging procurement practices and financial instruments that enable a just transition
• Developing energy upskilling and employment opportunities in the area
• Promoting nature-based solutions and considering biodiversity in all SEC activities
