KLIK Energy Cooperative

KLIK, which stands for Križevački laboratorij inovacija za klimu (Križevci’s laboratory for climate innovation, in English), is an energy cooperative that aims to raise awareness on the energy transition, energy efficiency, renewable energy use, and how these fit together in a climate neutral Europe. More specifically, KLIK carries out the following activities:

• Encouraging Križevci citizens to invest in renewable energy, both in public projects and in their own households
• Helping Križevci citizens develop renewable energy projects
• Identifying local community needs
• Supporting the municipality in energy transition and climate resilience efforts
• Educating the local community on renewable energy and climate change mitigation
• Empowering the local community through collaboration, co-creation and capacity building actions

In 2021, KLIK and the municipality of Križevci established an Energy and Climate office – first of its kind in Croatia – that aims to promote the energy transition and make the local community more resilient. To make things easier for citizens, the office works with a one-stop-shop approach.

In 2023, the Energy and Climate office opened an energy poverty center with the aim of educating citizens about energy efficiency measures that can bring significant energy savings to their homes.
