Nadder Community Energy is a community benefit society that installs solar panels or other renewable energy systems in community buildings or businesses.
Nadder Community Energy raises money in the local area by selling shares, which are paid back over a 20 year period, and with this money it funds the solar PV installations. The benefits are distributed to shareholders and a Community Fund that supports local green projects and groups.
Their first share raise, at the end 2015, was a massive success, raising £476,500 from more than one hundred members in just under seven weeks. In 2017 they put on a hugely successful Green Fair in 2017 and had another share offer to put PV panels on several local schools.
In 2022 they have launched a fundraising to support the continuation of a project to set up a pilot electric car club in Tisbury.
