VERDAVA Energy Cooperative

The purpose of the cooperative is to promote and develop the production and use of energy from renewable sources for the collective benefit of its members, adhering to democratic and participatory principles and avoiding economic speculation.

The cooperative’s primary activity is the production, distribution, sharing and self-consumption of electricity from renewable sources, in the interest of its members and the local community.

The cooperative was founded by five members (four individuals and one non-profit legal entity, an educational private institution with an ecological focus). Membership is open to all, without restrictions based on financial status or social position. Each member holds equal voting rights at the General Assembly, regardless of financial contribution or installed production capacity, reflecting our firm commitment to democratic and participatory governance.

We are collaborating with civic organisations and local informal groups to identify vulnerable households and provide tailored support, either through direct consumption efficiency measures or through involvement in energy education activities, workshops and practical sessions focused on loss reduction and resource optimisation.

We also encourage intergenerational participation. We believe that both young people and older adults can contribute significantly to cooperative life, some bringing innovation and energy, others offering experience and wisdom. In doing so, we build not only a sustainable energy infrastructure but also a resilient and solidary community.
