Heleen Schockaert holds a Master’s degree in both History and International Politics from the University of Ghent, Belgium. She joined REScoop.eu in January 2021 as a communications intern and was hired as a project manager to work on the H2020 project CEES (Community Energy for Energy Solidarity) in June of that same year. Focussing on legal opportunities and barriers for energy communities to develop energy poverty alleviation mechanisms within the context of the CEES project, she is also involved in advocacy activities of the Federation at both the EU and Member State level. She represents REScoop.eu in the Right to Energy Coalition, which brings together trade unions, anti-poverty groups, social housing providers, NGO’s environmental campaigners, health organisations and energy cooperatives from across Europe to campaign to tackle energy poverty.
