The Clean Energy Package acknowledged the active role of citizens and communities in the energy market and introduced the concepts of renewable energy communities and citizen energy communities into the European Union legislation.
This crash course describes the changes in EU energy policies introduced by the Clean Energy Package (in 2019) that are relevant for energy communities and for community-based Virtual Power Plants (cVPPs). Moreover, you can find an explanation of the definitions of renewable energy communities and citizen energy communities.
The crash course is the third module of a series of crash courses created by the cVPP project. The other available modules are:
A guide that presents different options in which municipalities may be able to adapt their public procurement processes to better support energy communities.
A guide that identifies and shortlists practical examples of digital solutions for energy communities in different scopes of application.
Whether you don’t know where to start from or you are stuck with a specific issue in the development of your energy community, an expert can help you.
