This guide helps citizens prepare and carry out successful workshops, whether they are online or face-to-face. These can be needed at any stage of the development process of an energy community.

The tools and tips provided in this document help define the goals of the workshop, keep in mind all the planning aspects and address the logistics needs to carry it out. It also includes suggestions of practical exercises and advice for the implementation of the meeting, focusing on three main objectives: developing a vision, developing an action plan, or building the community. A full section is dedicated to energisers and setting the mood activities to create a feeling of connection among the participants. The guide also includes a list of additional resources for those looking for additional guidance.

This document has been developed by the Clean Energy for EU Islands Secretariat based on their experience in capacity-building workshops in island communities and it mainly refers to energy transition workshops on islands, but the facilitation techniques and exercises explained can be applied to workshops in all contexts.
